ESNAAD signs agreement with Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies
ESNAAD, a wholly owned subsidiary of ADNOC, has signed an agreement with the Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies (JAMS) to provide training courses for ESNAAD’s marine officers.

The agreement was signed by Mr Darwish Al Qubaisi, General Manager of ESNAAD and Dr Engineer Mustafa Massad, the Director of JAMS in a bid to co-operate together to develop a system of learning on the Arabian seas based on new technology and an exchange of ideas and experience.

Mr Al Qubaisi explained that ESNAAD is aiming to increase Emiratisation in the marine sector and to develop the skills of officers in this field, saying “currently 39% of ESNAAD’s workforce is Emirati and we are on target to achieve our goal of 75% of core positions to be filled by UAE Nationals by 2014”.

ESNAAD will send a total of 20 officers to Jordan for training, including a number of retired naval officers who will obtain certification to enable them to work on ESNAAD vessels.

ESNAAD is part of ADNOC Group and provides support services to the onshore and offshore oil and gas industry in the UAE and GCC, providing land and sea transportation, equipment, office and warehouse space, as well as drilling chemicals and well services.

The Jordan Academy for Maritime Services is one of the leading specialized educational facilities for naval and marine training programmes and is able to provide international certification according to internationally recognized standards. Jordan is included on the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) White List, which is like having a “good conduct certificate” in the international maritime sector.

According to Dr Massad the Jordan Academy for Maritime Services was established in 2004 to partner with many international organizations to provide courses, workshops and safety training to the naval and maritime sectors.
JAMS will be providing a four-year course to the ESNAAD delegates who require a high school diploma in order to be eligible to join the course. After graduation they will be certified and rated as a marine engineer or a marine officer.
